Someone wrote a book by that title. If I wasn’t so lazy, I’d look it up. Besides being lazy today, I’m also afraid I’d lose my writing place on this post. There’s something weird that happens in my relationship with a computer. I tinker, and it does whatever it pleases.
For example, my fonts look funny but for the life of me I can’t figure out what I did to change them globally. Warnings suddenly appear where there have been none before . But I don’t let that stop me from tinkering because occasionally I find something useful. It has to do with the law of unintended consequences.
Another example. I can no longer access the control panel by clicking on it. I do some gyrations and searchs and eventually I get there, but the format isn’t the same. Oh well, I tinker on.
Computers aren’t for the faint-hearted. One has to be fairly fearless to take chances when trying to improve its performance. The only thing I can say that all my tinkering accomplished is that I no longer get a message telling me that my recovery disk is out of space. Hmmm. Maybe I should try tailoring, soldiering, or spying and leave tinkering to people who have more knowledge than audacity.
